When we go out to a function or a party or some event we tend to put our good clothes on and apply some makeup to make ourselves look good. If we decided to turn up to an event without any makeup on we would feel awkward as if we are missing something, so in order to look better we use makeup.
But why do we need makeup in order to look better? And what should I focus on to look better with makeup?
When you use makeup it helps to enhance your features, by bringing them forward and sending some features behind, especially your eyes, lips, and skin tone. Just these features alone once they are enhanced can make the person alot more attractive as they make them stand out alot more due to the minipulation of the makeup to attract the opposite sex.

1. Eyeshadow Enhances The Eye Shape And The Eye Color
Eyeshadows can help enhance the eye shape and color of your eyes. There are different formulas to consider which have different finishes. The first thing to know is the various eyeshadow finishes, for instance, a matte finish for an eyeshadow would usually have no shimmer whatsoever. Shimmers which usually have light reflective particles. Satin finishes which is in between matte and shimmers.
The first way that makeup can enhance your eye shape is by using three main tones of eyeshadow. Highlight color which is usually used on the brow bone will give the eyes the illusion that the eyes are more open. A mid-tone color is the color that would be worn on the mid section of the eyelid. The last color would be the contour color which would be used to contour the crease of the eye which will help give more definition to the eyes.
Another way to use eyeshadow to enhance the eyes is by applying a complimentary eyeshadow to the eyelids. Complimentary eyeshadows usually use the color wheel to make the eye color pop. Colors that are opposite each other on a color wheel usually compliment each other, for example, for blue eyes if you were to look at the opposite the color wheel, you will see the complimentary color is orange, therefore, for blue eyes the eyeshadows that will help that eye color pop is orange.
Blue eyes: Warm brown, oranges, copper, taupe, golden khaki, rich raisin, charcoal
Brown eyes: Golden brown, mahogany, coppery bronze, dark purple, deep expresso, rich blue, deep green and charcoal
Green eyes: Warm brown, rich taupe, dark purple, coppery bronze, soft violet and charcoal
2. Eyeliner Can Help Define The Eyes And Make Them Pop
When it comes to applying eyeliner to the eyelids, it can really define the eye shape. An eyeliner can also make the eyelashes appear darker and thicker.
When applying the eyeliner to the eyelids it’s important to know your eye shape, because applying eyeliner to different eye shapes needs to be applied differently. There are different colored eyeliners that can also make your eyes pop.
For Blue Eyes: Warm brown, bronze, taupe, black and burgundy
Green Eyes: Warm brown, bronze, taupe, purple, black and burgundy
Brown Eyes: Rich brown, bronze, burgundy, rich purple, navy and black
Certain eyeliners can also help redefine an eyebrow shape, if the eyebrows are too sparse or uneven then using an eyeliner can help fix these problems. Eyeliner’s can also provide any additional definition to the eyebrows to make them appear thicker.
3. Mascaras Make Your Eyes Look More Opened
When applying mascara to the eyelashes the main purpose of it is to enhance the length of your eyelashes. By doing this it will open up the eyes making them appear larger. Depending on what you want out of your mascara this would usually result to the mascara formulation and the mascara applicator. Mascara is known to lengthen, thicken, curl and define the lashes.
The thicker the mascara wand the more volume it will give to the lashes. If the mascara wand is like a comb then it will define the lashes. If the mascara wand is curved then it means its supposed to lift and curl the lashes. If the wand resembles a pine cone shape then it lengthens the lashes for a more cat eye look. Lastly, a more rubbered wand would give the lashes a more depth.
4. Foundation Evens Out The Skin’s Complexion And Gives It A Healthy Glow
If the skin complexion has any discoloration, redness or scarring, a full coverage foundation can cover it up and make the skin complexion appear evened out. Foundations have different finishes which can determine how your overall skins appearance will look.
Matte Finish: When the foundation has no shine It’s usually great for oily skin types
Satin Finish: When the foundation has a few light reflective particles but not too shimmery or too matte.
Dewy Finish: When the foundation has a finish that makes the face appear more hydrated, this is great for drier skin types.

5. Highlighting And Contouring Gives The Face More Definition
Highlighting and contouring is a technique which can give the face more structure, by using the correct technique this can help bring forward features and also pull back other features. When highlighting the face most formulations are either shimmer pigmentation, or a lighter concealer color that brings forward any features where natural lighting would normally hit.
The reason why a highlight color is lighter is because it’s brighter and helps bring forward any features. Contouring would be a shade that would be two shades darker than your normal skin complexion. This will help pull back features, this is where the shade would normally hit.
The process of highlighting and contouring is about sculpting the face. When the correct techniques are used for your face shape it can make your face seem more thinner and defined which will enhance any features. 6. Gives The Face A Healthy Glow
Makeup can give the skins complexion a healthy glow. Blush is one of those makeup products that is applied to the cheeks and is supposed to make your complexion appear like there is a healthy glow. It can brighten the dullest of skins and give the cheeks a beautiful rosy glow.
A complimentary blush color can make it appear that the skin is glowing from within, this is done by applying blush to your makeup to make it look like it can really help bring together a beautiful makeup look. To determine which blush color is best for your skins complexion it’s best to pinch your cheeks and see what color flushes to the surface of your skin. This will give you an idea as to what color blush is suitable for your skin’s complexion.
Bronzers usually makes the skin look as if it has a healthy tan. It’s supposed to give a sun kissed look to the skin. This can make it seem like you came from outside and got a slight tan which can also make the face appear like it has a healthy looking glow.
7. Enhance The Lip Shape And Compliment Your Overall Look
When it comes to wearing lipstick it can really pull together a beautiful makeup look, by wearing a complimentary lip color, it can give your makeup a bold statement. When wearing a lipliner under your lipstick it can change your natural lip shape or even redefine it.
So if you suffer from uneven lips, a lipliner and lipstick can fix the problem which will give your features a more balanced look. Matte Finish: Is usually lipstick that doesn’t have any shine or gloss. Its ideal for bold look.
Satin Finish: Usually has a bit of a wet look to it with a lot of pigmentation
Frost Finish: Usually has a high shine due to its highly reflective particles.
Lustre Finish: Has a lot of hydration in its formulation and has a sheer finish
