Implementing A Skincare Regime

If a proper skincare regime is not implemented large pores will show through your makeup more and more over time.  The oils from that surface on the skin can mix with the makeup and make the pores appear larger when makeup is applied on the skin.

It’s really important to tackle the cause of large pores which is known to be amongst oiler skin types. The main cause would be the excess secretion of oils from sebaceous gland. This will loosen the skins elasticity around the pores which creates large pores.  Therefore, large pores are common amongst oilier skin types or where your skin would be the most oily.

It’s important to have a proper skin care regime for this skin type so that large pores are less visible.  The best to make the skin less oily, is by using oil free products. This will help the skin become less oily and help control the sebaceous glands.

The cleanser should help reduce the oils on your face, and for oily skin types should also help remove any dirt and oils in the skin, along with helping reduce the oil secretion on the skin.

Use Toners Everyday

Toners are usually applied on the skin after the skin is cleansed. Toners help clean out the pores of any further dirt and oils that the cleanser was unable to remove.

Can you reduce the pore size?

When it comes to using toners, it can do wonders in the sense of reducing the size of the pores.  Toners are usually used to help balance the pH levels of the skin, and clean out the pores from any dirt and oils that the cleansers can’t remove. The great thing about toners is that they go deep within the pores and removes dirt and oils from the actual pores.

Overtime, this will  help reduce the oils that secrete in the pores which do stretch out the size of the pores, by controlling the oil secretion by removing dirt and oil particles this can reduce the size of the pores. This can also cause the pores to tighten up and appear smaller.

There are a few natural remedies you can use to help reduce the size of the larger pores.

Witch Hazel: Witch Hazel is a natural antibacterial that does clean the pores. It is known to be used as a toner, that has natural properties that clean the pores along with keeping the skin supple. Witch Hazel is also known to cleanse and is able to tighten the pores.

Implementing Weekly Face Masks

Do face masks shrink pores?

Many people don’t think it’s necessary to use a face mask weekly, but using a face mask weekly can change the appearance of the skin.  Many face masks help lift up dirt and oils that may reside in the skin. Implementing a face mask to your skin care regime will also help control the oils and keep the skin looking brighter. Face masks, can also help make the pores appear smaller therefore, this will help your makeup apply smoother because there will be less texture on the face.

The type of face masks to look into are clay masks, because these types of masks pull up the oils that sit in the pores.  Once the clay masks dry you can see that the oils from the skin have been pulled up.

Raw honey is another natural way to help tighten up the pores,

DIY face masks with honey is known to have natural anti-bacterial properties, which help with clogged pores which would be associated with acne.  Raw honey is also known to help moisturize the skin and give it a healthy glow, It’s worth trying this mini facial at home with raw honey to help clear and tighten the larger pores.

DIY face mask with raw honey:

  1. Cleanse the skin
  2. Use a hot steam cloth to open up the pores
  3. Take 1 table spoon of honey and rub a thin layer into the pores of the skin and leave it on the skin for 30 mins

Remove Makeup Every Night

Does makeup make pores bigger?

Its really important to remove your daily makeup every night. The reason being is because makeup will still be in the pores which will definitely cause a break out. Makeup that sits in the pores can cause the pores to secrete oils which cause break outs.

The oils will mix in with the makeup which will cause the pores to expand which creates acne and larger pores, it’s also important to cleanse the skin properly every night. There is a basic way to cleanse the skin every night correctly follow the two steps below:

  1. Use micellar water for your skin type. Micellar water is usually applied onto a cotton pad and you would create gentle swiping motions, which removes makeup from the skin.
  2. Make sure you use a face cleanser, which is used to wash off any makeup that may sit on the skin that the micellar water was unable to remove. This should remove all the makeup off the skin.

Using A Face Primer

Using a face primer under your makeup will help smooth out the skin. Primers usually help smooth out the skin such as fine lines and wrinkles. When a primer is applied to the skin it helps makeup adhere to the skin and  allows your makeup too look smoother. There are many types of face primers that are pore filling which can be worn either alone or with your makeup.

When choosing a pore filling primer look at primers that are mattifying. This type of a formula will help reduce oil secretion and will help the skin appear smoother. When the skin is less oily it wont expose or expand the large pores by using a mattifying product. A mattifying face primer will also help smooth out the skin and help with oil control which wont make the makeup applied on top of the skin appear larger.

Avoid Wearing Shimmer Products

One of the main products to avoid applying to skin that has large pores is shimmery products. The problem with using shimmery products on top of the skin is that it will enhance the look of large pores. The light reflective particles will begin to bring attention to that section of the face.

It’s best to look at products that are mattifying to avoid this mishap from occurring.   By using a mattifying product such as highlighters, blushes and foundations its best to stay with mattifying products because it will help the with the oily skin and control the pores from being exposed due to oily skin.  mattifying products usually don’t enhance the look of large pores  because they don’t have light reflective particles to enhance the large pores.

Blending Foundation

What is the best foundation for large pores?

The one formulation to consider when having large pores is a matte formulation. A matte formulation will help. Using a matte formulation in foundation will help absorb the oil secretion and wont reflect or emphasize the size of the large pores. When applying a matte foundation use a beauty blending sponge because these sponges  require water to expand, once the sponge has been soaked in water and expanded it makes the sponge softer.

When blending out makeup with a soft beauty blender it thins out the foundation formulation allowing you to apply the foundation in thinner layers. When blending the foundation into the skin the beauty blender requires a gentle bouncing motion of the foundation being pushed into the skin. This allows over all look of the foundation to look more natural.

When using a powder foundation its best to use a stippling brush to stipple in the foundation  into the skin. Again, this will give the skin a more natural look rather than a painted on rough look.

Using Translucent Powders

How do you make your pores look smaller with makeup

One other way to diffuse the look of large pores is using a translucent powder on top of your entire make up look. By using a translucent powder it will help set the make up it will not only and help smooth out texture  of the skin such as fine lines and large pores.

Translucent powders help absorb the oils that may be surfacing on top of the skin which will help expose larger pores. Try to go for translucent powders that are mattifying and don’t have shimmers.  By gently stippling a translucent powder into the skin the translucent powder can  smooth out some of the skins texture. Make sure that the translucent powder isn’t applied with a heavy head otherwise  it will begin to look very cakey.

Another way to apply translucent powders to the skin is by using the powder puffs that come with the translucent powders.  The best technique with these powder puffs is to gently press the translucent powder into the skin and roll with the powder puff. This will help press the translucent powder into the skin while giving it a blurring effect.

Set The Makeup With Setting Spray

The reason why makeup may cause your pores to look larger is because the makeup wasn’t set with a setting spray.  Setting spray allows your makeup to stay in place sometimes when makeup is not set properly it may set into the pores giving that nightmare of a look with large pores.

The best thing to do is use a setting spray and spritz it around on the face and allow the makeup to mold together. Setting sprays help your makeup stay put and budge proof so this should reduce the makeup from settling in the pores.

How To Minimize The Look Of Pores With Makeup?

There is a certain technique used to reduce the size of pores with makeup. This requires a few quick and easy tips. Once a proper skin care regime is implemented  the following steps should be taken to help reduce the look of large pores with makeup.

  1. Apply primer to the skin by smoothing out the product into the skin.  A pore filling primer will usually help fill in the pores
  2. Apply your foundation in a thin layers- make sure to apply a thin layer of foundation on top of the primed area. Depending on how much coverage the skin needs apply thinner layers of foundation. Use a beauty blender to pressed product into the skin. Make sure to use a matte foundation so that it can help keep down the oil secretion.
  3. Translucent powder- use the powder puff that comes with the translucent powder and press and roll translucent powder into the skin. This will blur out the pores helping the skin look smooth out.

Conclusion

When it comes to applying makeup with large pores there are a few things to take into consideration. The first thing to remember is to have a great skin care regime for oily skin. Larger pores are  more likely to show up where our skin is the most likely to be oily.

The oils from our oil glands will eventually stretch out our pores making them large. Its really important to control the oil secretion with an oil free skin care regime. Oil free skin care regimes help control the oils and the skin can still can the benefits of skin care.  Once a proper skin care regime has been implemented it will help create an appropriate canvass for applying making up. Next its important to apply a face primer.

Face primers usually help fill in the pores. Its then important to apply a matte foundation because it wont emphasize the skins texture in any way and will also help with any excess oil secretion on the face. Its important how you apply the foundation on skin with large pores, gently use a sponge and push in the foundation on top of the skin where the primer was applied.

Furthermore, apply a translucent powder to help blur out any texture on the skin and this also will help reduce any oil that may surface.  The technique and application of makeup can help blur out the  large pores rather than the makeup enhancing the large pores.
