Have The Correct Skin Care Regime
The one thing that you must have in order for your makeup to apply smoothly is to have a correct skin care regiment in place. By having the right skin care in place this can determine the outcome of your overall makeup look, if the skin is too dry and your makeup is applied on top of it this can accentuate the texture. If the skin is too oily the oils can break apart the make up look. The first thing to remember is to know your skin type, the purpose of having the right skincare regiment is to balance out the skin.
There are three types of skin types:
Normal to combination skin types: Usually are more dry on the cheeks and oily on the on the T-zone. Which makes the skin partially oily and partially dry, It’s best to look at skin care products that are more balancing to the skin.
Dry skin types: Usually is dry all over and usually have more of a texture patchy look, It’s important to look at skin care products that are more hydrating to the skin.
Oily skin types: Is usually skin that is shiny and has larger pores. It’s important to look at skin care that absorbs oils and that is mattifying to the skin.
A basic skin care has a few steps which would be cleansing, toning and moisturizing the skin.
Cleaning: Cleansing the skin consists of cleansing the skin of any make up, dirt and oil, this will help keep the skin clean.
Toning: By toning the skin it helps remove any excess make up, dirt and oils that may be sitting in the pores that the cleanser was unable to remove. Most toners help condition the skin allowing the skin to be more supple. Another benefit to using a toner is that it helps balance the pH levels of the skin.
Moisturizer: Using a daily moisturizer helps keep the skin hydrated. Moisturizers are good at determining the skins texture when using the correct formulation based on the skin type. By using the correct moisturizer regularly it will change the overall look of the skin overtime.
Use A Primer
Once a basic skincare has been implemented applying a primer to the skin will change the way your makeup will look. The purpose of applying a primer to the skin is because most primers help smooth out any texture on the skin such as large pores, fine lines and any uneven skin texture. Primers also allows your makeup to last longer.
It allows the makeup to adhere to the skin. If you have problems with your makeup not lasting long then using a primer under your makeup it will make a huge difference in how your makeup applies.
Applying A Concealer
Applying a concealer is an excellent way to cover up any imperfections your skin may have. Color correcting concealer is more for any discoloration that the skin may have. Color correctors are usually worn under the foundation because it uses the color wheel that help cancel out colors opposite to the color wheel.
For example:
Green cancels out redness
Pink, peach and corals cancels out any purple and blues in the skin
Purple and blue cancel out any yellow pigmentation on the skin
Concealer that is flesh tones is usually two shades lighter than your foundation. This helps brighten the under eye area. When used as a spot correction ity is usually used on top of the acne. This is usually a flesh toned concealer that is used on top of foundation.
Apply The Correct Foundation
Foundations usually help the skin by giving it a balanced and healthy looking complexion.
When applying foundation its really important to remember two main rules, which would be color matching your foundation and choosing the correct foundation type suitable for your skin type.
It’s always good to make sure your foundation matches your skin complexion. If the foundation is too light it can make your skin look ghostly and if it’s too dark it can make your skin look either too dark or too orange. When getting your colored match there are a few rules to remember one of the main things to remember is that the you may find the right foundation color but have the wrong undertone.
There are three foundation undertones to remember which are cool, neutral and warm. A cool skin undertone have more blue veins and are more likely to burn in the sun. A warm undertone has more green veins and tans well in the sun. A neutral skin undertone has both cool and warm undertones in them. It’s always good to test your foundation on the chin leading to the neck so that you can find a foundation that suits your skins complexion on your face and on your neck. This will give you a good indication on matching your foundation correctly.
The second thing to remember is to make sure your foundation suits your skin type. This is important because this will determine the foundations finish, by using a more oil based foundation on oily skin it can make the skin more oily and will cause it to crease. A more matte foundation can accentuate the texture of dry skin.
The following are foundations that will suit your skin type
Normal combination skin types: Can use liquid, creams and powders
Oily skin types: Should look at powder and foundations that powdered finish to help absorb oils
Dry skin types: Should look at more liquid and cream foundations that will help with providing hydration to the skin

When it comes to applying foundation the tools used play a huge role in how your foundation will look at the end of the day. Using a beauty blender to blend out foundation gives you more control in how your overall foundation will appear.
Beauty blenders are usually used when they are damp. When a beauty blender is used to blend out foundation, the dampness sheers out thicker formulations. This allows you to blend out the foundation in thinner layers and give you more control, when using dampened beauty blenders press the product into the skin making the foundation appear more natural looking rather than the foundation just sitting on top of the skin.
