Having any kind of skin condition on your body can cause some form of irritation or soreness, and eczema can certainly be one of them. When it comes to eczema it usually is common amongst infants, or babies.
Eczema is not as common amongst adults, the reason for this is because when we were babies were not as exposed to the bacteria around us, as much as we are as adults. By the time we have reached adulthood, our bodies have grown and gotten used to the pollution in our cities, or the bacteria around our environment. Saying that there are some adults do suffer from eczema and there are many reasons for that, the main reason is if you had eczema when you were a child it certainly can follow you through to when your an adult.
Atopic dermatitis is also known as eczema it’s the most common amongst adults, and can certainly be cured with the right products. Since eczema is skin irritation, it can be toned down with the right creams, or a good clean with the right antiseptic cream, shampoo, balm. Depending on where you have eczema you can bring down the inflammatory skin and any itchiness, or soreness.
In this post, I will talk about eczema, the cause of it and how to reduce alot of the skin irritation and any inflammatory that you receive when you have eczema.
What Is Eczema
In simple terms eczema is a skin condition where it either hardens, or becomes very scaly and can form a redness and also be very itchy, it’s where your skin becomes inflammable and can also be seen as a rash. The skin condition could vary alot it could either be all over your body or just in small places such as your hands or in my own instance my face.
If it is more rashy, because of the level of itchiness it gives out you could inflate the skin alot that will cause you to keep scratching that area alot.
What Causes Eczema
Eczema can be caused by many different reasons, the main cause could be from the fact that you might have been allergic to something that you have used on your skin. In my case, I used a product that I was not should not have, and the result was an allergic reaction that caused my Eczema.
Have you ever used harsh products that dry out your skin taking away all the natural oils?
Well with me that is exactly what happened as I mentioned above I used a product that took out my natural oils which then dried out my skin, this then leads to my skin becoming flaky, itchy, causing redness and small bumps all over the skin.
This often can look like a bad case of acne too which I thought I did have, however, after visiting the local beautician she had explained to me it looked like I had a case of eczema.
There was a new face wash that a friend of mine kept raving about, so I decided to try it out only to find that my skin reacted in a horrible way.
It stripped all the natural oils out of my skin causing a lot of dryness and irritation. To make matters worse the cold winter dry air wasn’t helping my skin situation.

I thought I would share my photo of eczema that I did have on my face, the itchiness of the skin is what convinced me I didn’t have acne., I was afraid of scratching it as I really didn’t want to make it worse or have it inflame anymore. Even though it was tempting to scratch the itchiness I was resisting.
I tried treating the problem with tea tree oil, I thought this might bring down the redness and bumps and be able to ease the itchiness, but it only helped soothe the skin temporarily from the itchiness
The bumps on my skin weren’t disappearing which became frustrating, and the texture of my skin was not appealing at all. The redness would be at its worse after a shower which made my skin so sensitive, it was irritating me as I was not sure what to do to prevent it to get any worse.

As you can see from the photo above my skin texture was bumpy, red and rough looking. My natural oils were removed which led to the irritation from the product, which was frustrating because at the time my skin was sensitive.
I was unable to treat my skin problem with the best ointment for eczema which I thought was tea tree oil, I had a feeling I had a case of eczema but wasn’t 100 % sure. So I did some research on how to get rid of eczema on face.
So I headed to the local drugstore to get a second opinion from a Beauty Advisor since the research on how to get rid of eczema on the face was quite vague. When I explained to the Beauty Advisor the skin condition she also agreed it sounded like a case of dermatitis on face or eczema as it’s popularly known.
What Causes Eczema To Flair Up On Your Face
With eczema, it’s one of the conditions where anything can trigger it to flare up no matter what part of your body the condition is at. A change in your environment can cause the skin to flare up if the air is dry can cause the flare. When it comes to eczema flaring up on your face what can cause it is if you have removed the oils from your face, such as your natural oils that your skin produces, this can cause the dryness and the skin to begin to itch which in turn will make your skin begin to inflate.
Can Eczema Spread If You Scratch It
There happens to be this myth that if you scratch your eczema it can spread to other parts of your body, well that is just a myth so you won’t need to worry there at all. The only way eczema can spread throughout your body is if your skin is really dry and eventually it begins to appear in those dry areas. If you think that this condition can spread from person to person then I can say that the myth is debunked. That is not true at all.
The main parts of the body that you will find that it may spread to are your face, cheeks, and chin if your an infant, for adults it will spread to the back of your neck, your wrists, knees and your elbows are the common parts. Try to avoid scratching eczema as all it does is it makes it worse and makes your skin flare up more and creates alot of redness.
How To Get Rid Of Eczema On Your Face
Knowing what the best eczema treatment would work because of my past experience with the condition. The Beauty Advisor and I drifted towards the Avene products.
These products are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic it’s also known to treat very dry skin and skin prone to itching.
The two products I ended up buying were Eau Thermale Avene Xera Calm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream and Eau Thermale Avene Mousse Cleansing Foam.
I knew my skin was so sensitive after a shower and the Eau Thermal Avene Mousse would help calm the itchiness and some of the redness after a shower.
The Eau Thermale Avene Calm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream I had used before in a different case of eczema and experienced immediate results within 48hours.
What Is The Best Cream For Eczema?
Now that I got the appropriate products to treat eczema on my face. I knew the Eau Thermale Avene Mousse Cleansing Foam would be a good idea to try out on my skin because it was so sensitive to any other cleansers.
This mousse was so gentle on my skin due to being sensitive and had a few moisturizing properties that kept my skin soft, I used this mousse with lukewarm water.
After my shower, I had cleansed the skin area and used Eau Thermale Avene Xera Calm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream which took the place of my normal everyday moisturizer. This cream is where the real magic happens.
The consistency of this cream is so thick, it’s hard to actually rub the product into the skin. This cream can be applied on as a thick layer on top of the skin but within 5 minutes it will dry clear on top of eczema.
I did these two steps twice a day for 48hours and started to notice drastic results, my skin was no longer itching and the bumps and redness started to clear up.
